About Katja
For as long as I can remember, sports played an important role in my life, especially gymnastics. Unfortunately, such a passion doesn’t come without the odd injury. Painful as they may be, the upside of these injuries was that they exposed me to physiotherapy. I felt very well taken care of during my sessions, and a seed was planted.
I now specialise in the treatment of orthopaedic and pelvic floor-related conditions, and since completing my Pilates Matwork certification, Pilates has become an invaluable tool in my physiotherapy practice.
As mentioned above, physical activity has always been a big part of my life, and naturally I encourage my patients to incorporate movement into their daily routine. This is where Pilates becomes a fantastic option — it’s suitable for everyone.
The years of training in gymnastics taught me the importance of body awareness, coordination, strength, and flexibility—skills that are at the heart of Pilates. This experience, along with my physiotherapy degree, deepened my understanding of movement mechanics, which I now pass on to my students.

About Physio Disa
When I was brainstorming ideas for my business name, I wanted something that would truly reflect the essence of what I offer – strength, elegance, and a sense of balance. That’s when the Disa uniflora came to mind.
This rare and unique flower, native to South Africa, is known for its graceful yet resilient nature, which perfectly mirrors the approach I take in my work.
Just as the Disa uniflora thrives in difficult environments, Pilates exercises promote strength and resilience. Both focus on the body’s ability to adapt, grow stronger, and persevere despite challenges.
The Disa uniflora is known for its graceful beauty, much like Pilates, which is all about fluid movements that enhance elegance and grace.
And so, Physio Disa was born – a name inspired by the perfect blend of grace and fortitude.
